This is not the kind of card I particularly enjoy analyzing, nevertheless, the selections have been made after evaluating form, fitness, and perceived stable intent.
R-1: 1.Storm Shadow
Storm Shadow has the best ideal staying profile among the 5 runners
R-2: 1. Santorius--NEXT BEST
All the horses are equally worst and in such scenario Conventional racing wisdom says to fancy a horse ridden by top Jockey and hence top preference is given to Santorius.
R-3: 6.Garzian
Quite a few speed leaning youngsters pitched here. Garzian tops the list due to positive intent as evident by suggestive fast work and switch in saddle support
R-4: 8.Small Dreams
Small Dreams tops the Time Form Charts, honest performer whose ultra consistency can reap rich dividends in this modest set
R-5: 2.Cross Water-Place
Interestingly baring one, other 4 horses are not active in morning works. CrossWater has dropped closer to last winning mark and should run a good race. Lack of trackwork can be ignored as this mare is never active in trials, better option than backing fav at prohibitive odds
R-6: 1.Angelisa-Place
Margaretta was mighty impressive winner in track debut successfully carrying the Mumbai form, leading contender for this main event of the day. Angelisa has decent credentials and can complete 1-2 for the stables
R-7: 3. Flaming Sword
Flaming Sword was bit rusty in seasonal debut where it started slowly, has appeared in two mock races since then and pitched here with a better Jockey all indicating towards positive intent
R-8: 8.Lots of Love--DAYS BEST
Lots of Love is showing out in trials giving an impression that he has recovered well from a gelding operation, this ordinary bred makes handicap debut at a favorable mark
THRILL OF BRAZIL was fancied by us as a long-shot place prospect in its previous start, where it eventually finished fourth. Post-race reports said that the jockey was fined for failing to make sufficient efforts throughout the race right up to the finish. For punters who backed the horse for a place, such incidents are really frustrating.
Similarly Agape was fancied by us for place last week where it finished 33 lengths behind but today it ran like possessed to end a close 3rd
It may be wishful thinking, but one can only hope that racing authorities eventually find a way to minimise these unextended runs. If every horse were consistently ridden to its true potential, traditional form reading would become far more reliable and rewarding than the constant exercise of trying to decipher stable intent and hidden agendas.
