The trend of the current Bangalore Summer Season is unfolding largely along expected lines. The loss of the Winter Season was always likely to have an impact on form assessment and race competitiveness. A good number of short-priced favorites have already bitten the dust—some were genuinely capable horses who simply failed to deliver on the day, while others appeared to be overhyped by the market.
It is always easier to find merit in the winner after the race has been run. Before the race, however, all we can do is analyze the available data, interpret the prevailing patterns, and apply our judgement to arrive at the best possible selection.
We are not machines capable of working with the same intensity and objectivity regardless of results. When operating from a negative frame of mind, it becomes difficult to maintain the same level of enthusiasm and depth while studying a race card. On this occasion, I believe I deviated from my usual analytical process and relied more on intuition than on concrete racing evidence.
Readers are therefore advised to exercise their own judgement and treat the selections accordingly.
