Kolkotta New Year Day Selections

Wishing all patrons a Prosperpous Joyful and healthy New Year 2022.

3rd wave of Pandemic has begun atleast for Media and certain State Governments who are going over board to impose restrictions without assessing the damage to economy and common man. Mumbai Races to be held on 2nd has been cancelled and there is little hope we would see action there in near future.Sooner or later other clubs will follow the suit. 

So enjoy the show till the time it lasts :-)

Race-1

A couple of modestly bred debutants here with a duo of Kunal Gupta {upcoming leading owner} running second time in career after an insipid debut. Jinsoku owing to speed had a chance but runs the first time after gelding and Aureate from Bangalore is a bleeder. Rewrite the Star improved in the last star and can surprise younger horses. Personally, I won't be having any big bet in this race except for a small quinella bet on 6-8

Race-2

Properly Posh with a positive switch in shoes and eye-catching spurts in trials emerges as the main contender in this modest set where the market may fancy Vijay Singh Trained Melody {Blinkers on this time} but has to improve a lot and Ashwamegh appears to be targetting a demotion. My Money would be on 1W

Race-3

For Evermore is a decent bred who looks sharp in trials and can raise winning gallop in this modest set where most of the runners have failed multiple times in this class. Indian Star who was a winner at Bangalore will be sharper this time. My Money would be on 7W if above 1.5 else may opt for 4ew

Race-4

Redoubtable has proven stamina for this trip but I am inclined to ignore it due to a change of equipment. Reno Star has won a race over 9f and Trainer is in an upbeat mood. My fancy here would be 2w

Race-5

Vanguard despite being an impressive winner is ignored due to the second run of career factor. Creation of God with Blinkers On and Shopify at decent handicap go over the favorable trip. Raqs Sharqi is a winter specialist and should be involved in the mix. My Money would be on 10w or 2pl 

Race-6

Legendary Striker is hard to oppose and may run at cramped odds. Our quest for a value bet can be quenched either by speedy Exotic Queen or well-placed Harbour Sunrise. My money would be on 2pl and hedge it with 4pl

Race-7

Social Truth half brother to Juliette won drawing away on debut and comes here in this Terms Race with leading claims but for conceding weight. Trainer Vijay Singh has 6 entries in this field of 11 runners and it would be nothing short of a financial harakiri to bet in this set. Just for academic reasons, my choice here would be Tuscany

Race-8 

On class terms, Luminous is the best but the last run was slow at the start hence a bit skeptical. Shivalic Gold was disappointed in the only run on the winter track and not better than Top Notch on the 24th October line. Sherwin relished the change of equipment to win impressively last time and is well placed on handicap in this higher class. Top Notch is a decent performer and can surprise at decent odds. My money would be on 1ew more in place hedge it with 5w

Race-9

Saved the best for the last!!. Black Pearl will attract the interest of railbirds for obvious reasons. There are many genuine class-2 horses here and it would pay to pick one good shot which for me here is Estrella Star who won a mock race recently and is well placed on terms. Big Star is back with its fav jockey and can grace board at huge odds. My money would be 1ew more in pl with a hedge on 5pl
