Invitation weekend races true to its known trait left punters gasping for their breath with only 2 favs obliging out of 16 races
Four records broken in invitation weekend
Plus one record for 3000 mts which was run for first time in Mysore.
1200-Corfe Castle
1400-Multifaceted
1800-Star sapphire
2400-Adjudicate
Most impressive winners were
Subah Ka Tara(maintains decent record on Mysore track)
Star Sapphire ( Excellent finish breaking course record)
Multifaceted ( disappointed in Sprinters but came out well to win on Sunday)
Adjudicate ( First horse in Indian racing history to win invitation twice)
Disappointing were
Iron Age( Lost 10 kgs and displayed poor turn of foot taking tons of public money to drain)
Hokkaido ( Something was seriously wrong)
Valegro ( Trainer Shroff will have to find another head to blame this time)
Bangalore based horses on expected line ran well picking plum events
Hyderabad horses surprisingly did well to pick Sprinters cup and one more race , while losing another by whisker
Kolkota got Invitation cup
Madras/Mysore too got a winner in form of Vachaan
RWITC surprisingly returned empty handed
While Mysore race club administrators led by dynamic Dr Nityanad should be applauded for excellent arrangements despite constrained infrastructure quality of racing is far from standard. Jockeys were forced to take outer track route to avoid damaged inner side. Elevation and sharp slant in the straight need to be addressed if MyRC intends to become a prime center in near future
Overall it was a joyful weekend for racing patrons
