1.Rampage: An ordinary bred suitable for 1400-1600mts, two sturdy works after laser treatment is an indication of full recovery, since it was treated twice in this month one should be cautious 

2.Shining Path: Modest bred that may be effective over 1600-1800 in later stage of career, debut run was unimpressive and no recent stamina building exercise in trials

3.Taaqath: Well-bred from Mumbai that has excellent balance of speed and stamina, preparation devoid of flashy works but still can be effective due to modest field

4.Xanthos: Appears to be an ordinary sprinter, will need few runs

5.Ashwa New York: Has pure speed oriented pedigree and despite top saddle assistance may disappoint again

6.Belluci: A light weighted filly that ran true to her ordinary bloodlines in both runs of her career, laced with multiple medical issues like injuries, surgery, sore back

7.Sindoor: First foal of Star and Garter that got the only career win over 2000mts, preparation pattern shows steady progression rather than flashy speed confirming the pedigree traits 

Conclusion: Based on pedigree and preparation Rampage gets the nod only if appears fit in paddock inspection and in case he fails in looks then Taaqath emerges as replacement selection 

Race-2: Basilica (8)

1.La Mcqueen: Continues to shine on favorable Summer track, though penalized for last win cannot be discounted easily as he is pitched in a lower grade race reserved for older horses of Bangalore

3.Defense Counsel: Merits attention for drop in handicap and booking of a better Jockey

4.N R I Victory: A morning glory, will find distance sharp

5.Win Win: Returned bleeding in last run, a striking resemblance to similar condition of a person operating under this name :-)

6.Bestidentification: Reappears after a long break from a new stable, cannot hold his old form true due to this break

7.Aherne: Continues to struggle on Summer track, dropped lot below last performing mark suggesting a downtrading form

8.Basilica: Pitched in a perfect set-up in terms of handicap, opposition and fitness, will be involved strongly

9.Lauterbrunnen: Due for a gamble, has won with this Jockey, can upset all calculations

Conclusion: Lower grade of class-3 for 5yrs above horses has attracted quite few gamble hopefuls, Basilica tops the selection list for win and Lauterbrunnen for a place 

Race-3: Maana (4)

1.Magnus: Attained competitive mark and will try to repeat the winning performance over this C&D of win last summer, handicap is high though

2.Winfield: Placed in progressive distance from 1400-1800 to 2000 now, one paced and needs to time it perfectly at all important end

3.Badshaah: Earned a well paying place gamble last time, 1.5kgs penalty and switch to second grade Jockey over an unfavorable extended trip is signs of a non serious effort

4.Maana: Disappointed as fav in last run, runs over favorable distance with a crucial 1kg drop in handicap, can do well

5.Youremanorborne: Wasn't disgraced in track debut, has impressed in fast works thereafter and with a better jockey stands decent chance

6.Multi Success: Started slowly last time showing the horse struggling since setback at Kolkotta

7.Unforgettable Star: Entrusted to stable's blue eyed boy after two easy handicap reductions runs, this modest bred has a tough task if fancied 

Storm Shadow: Could not deliver over this trip of lower class last time, weak record in this class

Conclusion: This 10f race favors horses with proven stamina and class credentials, quite a few qualify however Maana and Youaremanorborne tops the list in that order

Race-4: Xanthe (3)

1.Hugo Victor: A whip-less apprentice Jockey for a late finishing horse indicates this seasonal debut is a lung opening exercise

2.Touch of Grey: Winner of St Ledgers pitched in mile under a whip-less Jockey, this late grinding horse cannot be fancied

3.Xanthe: Won lot easy than it appeared in the reappearance run on this track { i erred last time thinking it was first appearance in Bangalore}, open to further improvement

6.Super Star: Runner- up in Derby and 3rd in St Ledgers at Kolkotta and earlier 3rd in Pune Derby, this reject of Trainer P Shroff appears here first time, has changed stables thrice

7.Promiseofthefuture: Finished a good second to a better horse last time, serious medical conditions in vet report as recent as 20.06

Conclusion: With scratching of Emphatic who would have won this race easily, this mile race of class-1 is at mercy of Xanthe

Race-5: Iron Image

1.Burevestnik: The most experienced runner with a textbook sprint profile. Cross Nose Band and Basket Bit have been applied to curb the tendency to over-race and waste energy after fighting the jockey in recent starts.

2. Iron Mirage: Impressive repeat-pattern debut winner with a Class-2 equivalent TR. His superior ratings and ideal speed-stamina pedigree should enable him to absorb the early pace and still prove dominant over this 6f trip.

3.A Great Buzz: Winner over 6f in debut defying pedigree traits of being effective over 1400-1600mts, earned a modest TR, usually this type of horses struggle to repeat

4. Shristhi: Speed oriented, started slowly in last run, hard pressed for a response in fast work, ignore

5. Veera's Princess: Bred for further distance, very poor show in debut

Conclusion: This feature event of the day is test for Second run bounce cases like Iron Mirage and A Great Buzz and a likely improver Burevestnik,  I expect Iron Mirage and A Great Buzz  to occupy top two places

Race-6: Rockstar (6)

1.Darrington: Unable to find the perfect galloping gait in Summer conditions, widest draw adds to his woes

2. Coolie: In the first run with new name last time received some support initially, keep an eye

3. Shining Ways: Little chance against superior horses last time, won well in debut confirming his near perfect 6f dosage profile, wish there could have been few more recent works in morning trials

4. Lasya: Facing relatively easy set, should be considered if race time odds are less than 5/1

5. Femme Fatale: Facing enquiry for sudden improvement and then again for running below expectations in next run

6. Rocking Star: Has attained competitive mark and should run a good race, ignore lack of trackwork as it is never shown in morning trials

9. Annabelle: Could not exit maiden ranks in weaker sets, this well-bred filly runs over this intermediate distance {between sprint and route} for the first time

10. Big Bay: An ordinary bred that can be effective over this extended trip, however intent of this stables cannot be gauged

Conclusion: Pointers points towards a gamble race, much will depend who gets the nod . Rockstar for win and Big Bay for place appeals at this stage

Race-7 : Densetsu(6)

1. Senor Cherie: Back to winning Class and distance albeit at a higher handicap

2. True Punch: No show in last two runs, retained at same mark so nothing to suggest an improvement 

3: Aquastic: Explosive front runner in all starts this season however mounting penalties makes his task tougher

4. Bezawada Sultan: 3 quick wins last summer spiked ratings to sky high,  struggling since then, may target a easier same age group set post derby

5. Royal Deccan: Good 3rd in strong company in penultimate run, should run a good race

6. Densetsu: Was fancied unsuccessfully in last Summer season here, showed slight improvement in last run at Mumbai, ideal handicap

Conclusion: Nice competitive affair, inclined towards Densetsu 

Days Best: 2-8 Basilica

Next Best: 4-3 Xanthe
