Indian Races: Probable date of resumption
Tuesday, May 18, 2021
For the 8th consecutive day number of new Covid-19 cases has been on decline. This trend if true( rural areas data remains questionable) gives a shimmer of hope for racing activities to resume from July
There is an existential crisis for Indian Horse racing and it's the time club show magnamity of holding races despite losses. If racing survives then Clubs may recover losses in future but if they show attitude of "no action without profit" then there is a serious problem on hand as owners unable to pay BTF and other expenses will start deserting this sport
UK allowed spectator less racing for almost a year and now slowly things are returning back to normal so is the case with Australia,South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries where Racing is a major sport and there is no reason why our cash rich clubs can do the same
I hope HRC will start Monsoon season Racing (Spectator less) as per schedule. Grapevine is that Bangalore summer season may be conducted at Ooty(bad bad idea) but then in this times anything even if below quality is better than nothing.RWITC may wait a bit longer due to severity of conditions in Maharashtra. RCTC even if manage to resume Racing activities may not be able to attract the interest of Race Goers due to depleting Horse strength
